Dr Vadeboncoeur graduated in 1988 at the University of Montreal, was board certified in family medicine in 1990 and in emergency medicine specialist in 2000. Member of the Department of Medicine at the Montreal Heart Institute, Dr. Alain Vadeboncoeur is also the founder of the EM Departement of the MHI, where he assumes his leadership since 1999. It is also associate professor at the University of Montreal since 2009 in the Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine Department.
Expert in emergency medicine, he chaired the Association of Quebec Emergency Physicians (1998-2000) and the Association of Specialists in Quebec Emergency Medicine (2004-2008). It is also involved in the defence of the public health system as the founder of the organization Quebec Doctors for Medicare and president from 2012 to 2014. He has published in October 2012 an essay on the health system, Privé de soins, and in 2014, Les acteurs ne savent pas mourir. He is interested in knowledge transfer and work regularly in the medias. He hosted the show The Doctors of 2010-2013.
He is the author of numerous scientific publications, book chapters, manuals, communications and conferences. Co-founder in 2001 of the Interuniversity Group emergencies Research (GIRU-FRSQ), he counts among his research interests the organization of services, care for the elderly and pre-hospital services.
Emergency Medicine Department of the Montreal Heart Institute
Graduated from The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC-MU) and the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), he is in EM practice since 1981. Former head of the emergency department of CUSE Fleurimont and assistant professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Sherbrooke, he is an expert in EM to the coroner’s office in Quebec and for various professional liability causes. He composed and revised texts on various health issues for a consumer Web site. He is an active physician in the ED of the Montreal Heart Institute since 2007.
